Jessi Ngatikaura has finally blown up the long-running “Fruity Pebbles” mystery on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and the alleged meaning is… absolutely not safe for breakfast. Demi Engemann, meanwhile, is furious, calling it a private, one-time thing in her marriage that’s being dragged out to distract from much darker allegations.
Wait, remind me what ‘Fruity Pebbles’ even are?
Back in season one, viewers watched Whitney Leavitt gift Demi a box of Fruity Pebbles as a prank, alluding to a private sexual “experience” Demi and husband Bret Engemann had named after (or involved) the cereal.

Demi later admitted it caused “tension” in her marriage once fans latched onto the innuendo, saying they were “keeping the mystery alive” and turning it into an in-joke rather than spelling out what actually happened.
Fast forward to season three-era feuding, and Jessi used her Instagram Stories to answer the question fans have had since day one.
“Since she wants to be petty and be an asshole, I think I am just going to go ahead and say that grandpa Bret likes to drink her piss like it is dirty soda,” she alleged, adding, “He gulps it down like water. And that is what fruity pebbles means.”
The comments came as the pair’s friendship has fully imploded amid drama over their respective connections to Vanderpump Villa star Marciano Brunette.

Demi has since released a statement on Instagram stressing that whatever happened with Bret was consensual and should never have been weaponised. “What my husband and I did one-time behind closed doors, was a consensual and private experience in our marriage,” she wrote, adding that she “won’t let a private act between my husband and I be a distraction from a serious act that I did not consent to”.
She also claimed she shared the Fruity Pebbles story with Jessi “in confidence nearly two years ago” and called it “very telling” that Jessi is only bringing it up now “after her own affair has come to light”, describing it as a “desperate attempt to shift attention away from her own behaviour”.

Marciano and misconduct claims
Underneath the cereal discourse is a much heavier storyline involving Demi’s allegations of sexual misconduct against Marciano Brunette, which he has repeatedly denied.
In a statement shared to Instagram, he claimed Demi made “crazy allegations” and questioned why she would allegedly keep messaging and maintaining contact if she truly saw him as a “predator”, saying there is “so much more” that will come out and insisting he does not condone sexual assault or false accusations. Bret has backed Demi publicly, calling her “the most incredible woman I will ever know” and saying she has handled “nonsense” from “disingenuous and deceitful fools” like a “graceful lioness amongst a bunch of yipping hyenas”.
Where The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives goes from here
Jessi and Demi’s friendship has clearly gone from confidantes to scorched-earth enemies, and their social media tit-for-tat is now part of the show’s off-screen lore as much as any on-camera storyline.
With The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives renewed for more episodes, there is a very real chance viewers will see some version of “Fruity Pebbles-gate” play out on screen in future seasons. At least one can hope!
