Jesse Marsch told to axe Rodrigo as Leeds XI for Arsenal clash delivered

Leeds United supporters have been voting for the team they would like to see start at Elland Road this afternoon as the Whites host league leaders Arsenal, looking to put an end to a five-match winless run in the Premier League.

Last time out saw Jesse Marsch's side disappointingly throw away a 1-0 lead away at Crystal Palace, eventually losing 2-1, and supporters have called for some changes as the Whites seek a turnaround in form, particularly with the enforced break as a result of the World Cup less than a month away.

Using Leeds Live's Pick The Team widget, here is the most popular starting lineup for the Gunner's visit.

Goalkeeper - Meslier

No surprises here as Marsch's first choice goalkeeper keeps his spot in between the sticks.

Defence - Struijk, Cooper, Koch, Kristensen

An unchanged defence from Crystal Palace, fans seem to see no need for change at the back despite defeat last time out. Moreover, left-back Junior Firpo is expected to be back in contention after recovering from a knock, meaning that places at the back could be at risk.

Pascal Struijk in particular will certainly receive more pressure as a result of Firpo's return with the Dutchman predominantly a centre-back but deputising at left-back whilst the Dominican has been sidelined.

Also, it seems as though supporters are pleased with Rasmus Kristensen with the Dane missing just one Premier League match since arriving from RB Salzburg over the summer.

Midfield - Roca, Adams, Harrison, Sinisterra

The first change sees Luis Sinisterra return to the starting lineup in the place of Brenden Aaronson after serving his suspension as a result of the red card shown in the goalless draw against Aston Villa a fortnight ago.

With three goals and an assist in seven appearances across all competitions, it's been a decent start to life in Yorkshire for the summer signing from Feyenoord, with the red card a disappointment.

On the opposite flank, Jack Harrison retains his place with the Englishman impressing in the first handful of games of the season with a goal and three assists.

Moreover, in the holding positions, Marc Roca and Tyler Adams have clearly become Marsch's preferred pairing with the duo accumulating a combined 16 Premier League appearances thus far.

Strikers - Bamford, Gnonto

Despite Patrick Bamford being without a first-team goal since December and Rodrigo having four in the Premier League this term, supporters would rather see the former start over the latter with summer signing Willy Gnonto coming in to partner the Englishman.

Granted, Rodrigo is without a goal in four appearances which is arguably why supporters would like to see a change in attack with 18-year-old Gnonto coming in for his Premier League debut fresh from being listed in the final 20 shortlist for the FIFA Golden Boy Award.

The Italian youngster scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances for FC Zurich last term and fans will be hoping that he can make an instant impact in a Leeds shirt.
