Jesse Marsch outlines Tyler Adams' Leeds United importance and gives Luis Sinisterra update

Tyler Adams has been one of stars of Leeds United’s season so far and Jesse Marsch took the opportunity to sing his praises following Saturday’s win over Liverpool. The Whites produced their most impressive result yet under Marsch to stun Jurgen Klopp’s side, end their eight-game winless streak and climb out of the relegation zone.

Adams was at the heart of everything Leeds did well on the night, dominating the middle of the park and making life hard for the likes of Thiago and Fabinho. His relentless energy and dogged intensity in midfield ensured Liverpool’s midfield pair struggled to take control of the contest.

He moved the ball quickly, too, to the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Crysencio Summerville, who made a habit of getting in behind the Reds and inflicting damage on the counter. The American’s performance was by no means an anomaly, though, and it’s probably fair to say United fans have come to expect strong showings from the former RB Leipzig man.

He was arguably Leeds’ best in the win over Chelsea back in August, but his level of performance has been high every time he has crossed the white line for a Premier League game. As such, Adams was notably missed by the Whites last week as he sat out the home clash with Fulham.

But, despite being a fitness concern leading into the clash at Anfield, he was fit enough to return to action on Saturday and he certainly made a difference.

“For me, Tyler Adams has been one of the best players on the pitch in almost every game we've played,” Marsch said after the game. “So I'm not surprised to see him be able to deliver like that.

“I think he's had a great season. It was tough not having him last week but I thought Sam Greenwood had a good match. He's very important to our team.”

Adams wasn’t the only doubt prior to Leeds’ journey to Merseyside, with Liam Cooper, Joe Gelhardt, Rodrigo and Luis Sinisterra also picking up knocks. Sinisterra was the only man to drop out of the squad on game day, though, after failing to overcome a foot complaint.

Marsch is optimistic that the Colombian winger will return to action in time to face Bournemouth on Saturday at Elland Road.

“Yeah, we hope that he will be in training this week,” he added. “We hope that it's not too bad.

“You'd have to get Rob Price in here to talk through all the details of exactly what the injury is, but it's a little sprain in his foot. He was still pretty sore yesterday but the swelling has gone down each day and hopefully we can get him on the pitch this week.”
