Jesse Lingard has assured Manchester United supporters his “headspace remains clear” after missing out on a move away during the January transfer window.
Despite only featuring in 88 minutes of Premier League action this season after impressing loan at West Ham United last time out, Lingard did not seal a move away despite interest from David Moyes’ side and Newcastle United.
An academy graduate at the club, the 29-year-old’s contract runs out in the summer and, given his lack of game time, it seems increasingly unlikely he will sign a new deal, thereby meaning United miss out on a transfer fee for him.
The arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo have pushed Lingard further down the pecking order but he has moved to reaffirm his desire to remain professional.
The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons! But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 percent
