Jesper Lindstrom has made no secret of his Liverpool dream after taking Bundesliga by storm

Liverpool are "highly interested" in Eintracht Frankfurt's highly-rated midfielder Jesper Lindstrom, according to reports in Germany.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are also said to be in the hunt to sign the Denmark international. In a tweet by Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, he says that both clubs have been in contact with the Bundesliga outfit over the player who can play either wing or as an attacking midfielder.

His price is said to be in the region of €50m (£44m) but that is expected to fall to between €35m (£30m) to €40m (£35m). The Reds have been linked with the 23-year-old in the past who has three years remaining on his current deal at the SGE Arena.

Lindstrom is a player who likes to play in forward areas and has been utilised during his time in Germany in attacking midfield and on both wings. He named the 2021/22 Rookie of the Season by the German league with his attacking capabilities including finishing, creativity and link-up play.

When behind the striker he drifts between the lines and enjoys dribbling against defenders. For a typical Jurgen Klopp team, he would undoubtedly catch the eye with his ability on the counter-attack.

As a potential option for the German, his versatility is something that ticks the boxes for the tactician as has been the case with the acquisition of Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez in recent seasons.

What Jesper Lindstrom has said about Liverpool

Lindstrom has previously admitted he is a Liverpool supporter and could follow in the footsteps of Daniel Agger and Jan Molby with adorning the famous red shirt. In the past, he has described the possibility of featuring for the six-time European champions as "cool" to play at Anfield.

"I've always said I'm a Liverpool fan, so it could be cool to play for Liverpool at some point," he said via Tribal Football.

"For me, it is huge to be compared to Müller, because he plays in one of the biggest clubs in the world, and there he has played for a long time.

"But I also want to be myself, I do not want to be known as Müller-light."

On Liverpool-specific rumours, Lindstrom has remained coy.

"When I heard about it, I was interested to know if it was actually true. I am a Liverpool man after all," he told Viaplay as quoted by BuliNews.

"But there wasn't more to it. It's rumours, and rumours emerge really, really quickly. I can write something, someone else can write something and a third person can write something, and then it will be all over the media.

"I'm focusing on playing football and on doing what I can on the pitch to attract interest from clubs like these. It's all about playing football for me. My team will take care of all the other stuff."

Jesper Lindstrom warned against Eintracht Frankfurt exit

With his promising displays and growing list of accolades, in turn the interest continues to rise. As previously mentioned both the Reds and the current Premier League leaders have cast their eye on the Dane.

However, Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner has warned against making the jump to the English top flight too prematurely.

"He fits in best with us at the moment. It is important for him to get minutes at the highest level," said Glasner as quoted by HITC.

"It is also the first time he is playing in the Champions League. When you switch to a big club too quickly, you can sit on the bench without getting minutes, and then he can't improve any more.

"So I think he is the right place at the moment, and I also think that Frankfurt is the right place next season, and when he has shown himself for a longer period of time, then he can take the next step."

He added: "He is well on his way. He has of course improved, but it is also important that you are not satisfied with the development.

"We train and talk about some things with him, and he is doing well. He is more calm when he has scoring opportunities. He has good finishes and he has shown that in the last few games."

What has been said about Jesper Lindstrom?

While his club career is flourishing, he has yet to make a stamp on the international stage for Kasper Hjulmand's side making just nine appearances.

Frankfurt shot-stopper Kevin Trapp spoke about Lindstrom early in his development with Frankfurt and was left impressed by his early showings tipping him for greater things.

He said: "Jesper is very young and came from a different league. The Bundesliga is a tougher league than the Danish league, you have to get used to it. It’s normal, and everyone in the club and the team knows that.

"Jesper has already made significant steps forward... you can see that he's an outstanding footballer and has very good technique."

The media in particular have raved over the talented attacker, who has been likened to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler. In Germany, Kicker has expressed their admiration for him on a number of occasions.

After getting on the scoresheet against Schalke on Matchday 16, his "individual class" was pinpointed. They said: "The fact that Eintracht was even in the lead at half-time was due to the individual class of Lindström, who ran lightly over Matriciani in the 22nd minute and scored the ball accurately."

In his native Denmark, Ekstra Bladet have been quick to laud Lindstrom for 'truly burning up' the Bundesliga. "Jesper Lindstrøm is currently the Danish WC (World Cup) player with the greatest personal success," they wrote in November.

"Even so, he does not yet belong to Kasper Hjulmand's inner circle. He sat on the bench in the opening match against Tunisia, came on and had a dangerous attempt, but is by no means the favorite for a starting place on Saturday against France.

"Although Jesper Lindstrøm is hot on the back of his club career, his national team career has not yet fully got on track.

"He is only listed for seven international matches and has just been a bit in the shadow of, for example, Andreas Skov Olsen and Mikkel Damsgaard. They clearly have a head start because they took part in the EC and have thereby created footballing relations with the rest.

"But Lindstrøm has truly burned up the Bundesliga throughout the autumn. Several times on the team of the round in the respected sports magazine, Kicker. And in a special class with individual achievements that belong on the absolute top shelf."
