The Georgia Bulldogs have begun spring practice as they are building towards their annual spring scrimmage in April. Georgia has a dozen players dealing with injuries entering spring practice.
The Bulldogs are preseason national championship favorites (+350) according to BetMGM. Georgia returns starting quarterback Carson Beck along with several stellar linemen.
Part of the reason why Georgia is preseason national championship favorites is because Georgia fortified its roster via the transfer portal. Georgia brought in seven players via the portal. Six of them are practicing for the Bulldogs this spring with the lone exception being Stanford transfer tight end Benjamin Yurosek.
Let’s take a look at the new jersey numbers for several incoming Georgia transfers along with a few returning players who changed their numbers entering spring practice.
Wide receiver London Humphreys (No. 16)
Vanderbilt transfer London Humphreys is ranked as the No. 16 transfer in the nation and the No. 3 wide receiver. Coincidentally, Humphreys will wear the No. 16 jersey. Humphreys is a sophomore.
2023 stats: 22 receptions for 439 receiving yards and four touchdowns
Wide receiver Colbie Young (No. 9)
Miami transfer Colbie Young gives Georgia a jump ball threat. Young is ranked as the No. 31 transfer in the nation and the No. 5 wide receiver, per 247Sports. Young is a senior.
2023 stats: 47 receptions for 563 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns
Running back Trevor Etienne (No. 1)
2023 stats: 131 carries, 753 rushing yards, and eight rushing touchdowns
Wide receiver Michael Jackson (No. 13)
USC transfer Michael Jackson projects as a key played in the screen game and punt return game for Georgia. 247Sports ranks Jackson as the No. 365 transfer in this cycle and the No. 66 wide receiver.
2023 stats: 17 receptions for 146 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown
Safety Jake Pope (No. 22)
Alabama transfer Jake Pope, who is now a redshirt sophomore, did not see any game action as a true freshman in 2022. 247Sports ranks Pope as the No. 195 transfer in this cycle and the No. 14 safety.
2023 stats: 11 games played
Xzavier McLeod (No. 94)
South Carolina transfer Xzavier McLeod figures to see some snaps at Georgia this fall. The redshirt freshman defensive lineman is the No. 86 transfer in the nation and the eighth-ranked defensive lineman.
2023 stats: four games played, one tackle and one interceptions
Linebacker CJ Allen (No. 3)
Georgia sophomore linebacker CJ Allen figures to see a lot of action this spring with Smael Mondon out. Allen changed from No. 33 to No. 3.
Daniel Harris (No. 7)
Harris, who previously wore No. 15, is now No. 7 and is likely to be part of Georgia’s defensive back rotation.
Pass rusher Damon Wilson (No. 10)
Damon Wilson switched from No. 35 to No. 10. Wilson still wore No. 35 at practice, but changed to No. 10 on the roster. Wilson is expected to be one of Georgia’s top pass rushers this fall.
