Jermar Jefferson is back in Detroit. A day after being waived by the team, Jefferson has re-signed with the Lions. This time it is for the Detroit practice squad.
Jefferson is in his second season after being selected in the 7th round of the 2021 NFL draft. He made the Lions’ initial 53-man roster but was waived on the next day when the team claimed DT Benito Jones off waivers from the Miami Dolphins.
For now, the Lions are carrying three RBs on the active roster and two on the practice squad. Veteran Justin Jackson also came back to the practice squad after being released in the roster cutdowns. D’Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams and Craig Reynolds are the team’s RBs on the active roster.
The other RB the Lions cut this week, Godwin Igwebuike, remains a free agent.
