Jermaine Jenas 'puts his north London home on the market for £4.95million' following the breakdown of his marriage

Ex-footballer Jermaine Jenas is said to have put his family home on the market following the end of his marriage, 18 months after he was axed from the BBC.

Jenas, 43, enjoyed a successful career as a central midfielder playing for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa (loan), and Queens Park Rangers from 2001 to 2014.

He went on to become a football pundit for ITV's Match Of The Day and a presenter for BBC One's The One Show, earning a salary of £190,000.

However, he was dismissed from his BBC role in August 2024 amid allegations of misconduct after sending explicit messages to two female employees.

At the time, Jenas told press that he and his wife Ellie Penfold, 37, who he wed in 2011, planned to work through their troubles but they split up last March.

Now, the couple's six bedroom property near Barnet, North London, is up for sale for £4.95 million, The Mirror reports.

The listing shows the property's features, including an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, cinema room and playroom.

Jenas and his wife shared two daughters Geneva and Olivia, as well as a son Jacob. He bought the property for £2.8 million at the height of his football career in 2006.

Jenas's representatives have been approached for comment.

After his sacking by the BBC, Jenas gave a contrite interview where he said he was “ashamed” and “deeply sorry” for his actions.

He told The Sun: “I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology – especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry.

“I am sorry for what I have put them through. I think it would be fair to say I have a problem.

“I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.”

His One Show co-host Alex Jones later weighed in on the scandal, saying she had been “the last” to find out about it.

“JJ and I had become good friends. I was the last to know,” she said. “The BBC dealt with it, and I think if people feel uncomfortable, they have to deal with it.”
