Jermaine Jenas has publicly apologised to his wife, Ellie Penfold, after sending “inappropriate” messages to female colleagues.
The former Premier League star, 41, was fired from the BBC in August following complaints that he had sent “flirty” texts to two women he worked alongside.
Jenas previously insisted the messages were “between two consenting adults” and that his behaviour was not illegal.
At the weekend, the former Match Of The Day and The One Show host apologised to Penfold for “the bulls*** I’ve dragged you through recently”.
Jenas shared a post of his model wife at the launch of her beauty venture aimed at teens, Preppy Skin, on Instagram.
“Couldn’t be more proud of this woman, 3 years ago you had a great idea and this week you got to make that idea a reality,” the former Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder wrote.
“Starting a brand is hard enough, but working hard and being committed to getting it done even with all the BULLS**T I've dragged you through recently should be enough evidence that you’ll make it a success,” he added.
Jenas married Penfold in 2011 and they have three children together - Jeneva, 10, Olivia, seven, and Jacob, three. He also has a daughter, Sancha, 16, with a former partner who lives in the US.
The football pundit was sacked after women complained about his workplace conduct and a junior member of staff raised concerns over his texts.
He claimed one of the women he messaged had made it clear that she was interested and denied ever sending indecent images or videos.
After apologising to the women, Jenas admitted he has a “self-destructive streak” with his relationships and is in therapy.
He told The Sun in August that Penfold was “absolutely raging” about the messages and had kicked him out of their £1 million family home.
The athlete confessed to lying to her during a family holiday in Marbella, Spain, in which he snuck off to have a Zoom call with BBC bosses over the texts.
He came clean to Penfold about being fired after she was expecting him to go to work on The One Show on Monday.
Penfold has remained silent about the scandal on social media, however she failed to wear her wedding ring while attending her beauty launch last week.
Addressing the controversy, she told The Sun at the event: “It has been an incredibly hard and difficult time for myself and my family.
“Now I just want to move forward. Naturally this has been hard for me but my only concern has been our children and that will not change.”
