Jeremy Kyle lie detector tests exposed as 'less than 70% accurate' in Channel 4 documentary

Viewers who tuned into the damning Channel 4 documentary on Jeremy Kyle were left alarmed and appalled when the 'real accuracy' of the show’s lie detectors was exposed.

Anyone who watched even a single episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show over its 14 year run on ITV, will know the lie detectors were a focal point of the programme.

Many guests contacted Jeremy and his team to get answers on family squabbles, paternity and infidelities in their relationships.

When it came to the latter many couples took lie detectors on the show, with Jeremy, the studio audience and millions of viewers at home revelling in the fall out from the results.

Relationships were torn apart by the results as cameras kept rolling as trauma played out on the faces of the individuals affected, with crews following them backstage as there were tears and bitter slanging matches.

The Jeremy Kyle Show was axed by ITV in 2019, after guest Steve Dymond committed suicide within a week of being on the show.

Steve took a lie detector which claimed he had lied to and cheated on his fiancée.

So it came as galling listening for those who tuned into the second and final part of Jeremy Kyle: Death On Daytime to hear claims that the accuracy of the show’s lie detectors was actually somewhere between 60 and 70%, a figure never made public on camera.

Reacting to the exposé on the lie detector tests, that ruined relationships and lives, one viewer tweeted: "Watching the Jeremy Kyle Show documentary and gobsmacked to hear the lie detector tests were apparently 66-70% accurate….. so a pretty big chance the so-called cheats and liars exposed on the programme could have been completely innocent."

Another reacted: "Jeez. Watching the Jeremy Kyle documentary and in fact the lie detector result are really like 60~%!!! The amount of peoples lives possibly wrecked by essentially a false reading."

Also watching, a third posted: "Cor blimey, 60% success rate of lie detector tests and people were killing themselves over the results of Jeremy Kyle....kin hell"
