Jeremy Clarkson has come under fire over a rant about Meghan Markle in his column in which he said he hates her more than serial killer Rose West.
The TV presenter, who has never met Meghan, claimed he "dreams of people throwing lumps of excrement at her" after watching the bombshell Harry and Meghan documentary on Netflix.
The series takes a look into the couple's experiences of media harassment, racism and mental health issues, and although Jeremy said he "felt sorry" for Harry, his feelings about Meghan were not as sympathetic.
The Mirror reports that in his latest column for The Sun, Clarkson said that Harry was being "controlled" by his wife and referred to him as a "glove puppet".
"Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her," he wrote.
He then claimed that he hated her more than a convicted serial killer - and even brought Scotland's First Minister into the bizarre spiel. He said: "Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level."
"At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, “Shame!” and throw lumps of excrement at her," he shockingly wrote.
Despite saying that everyone would agree with him, his comments were not well received online.
"I’m your age @JeremyClarkson and I couldn’t disagree more with you. Why do you have to be so horrible? I can’t believe it’s good for you and it certainly isn’t good for the rest of us," Jacqui Smith MP hit back.
"I’m sorry but what has Meghan Markle done to deserve to be more hated than Rose West?
"I’m trying to think what has she done that’s worse than what Rose did? This is just vile and disgusting. Is Jeremy Clarkson upset that Meghan stood up for herself?" another fumed.
Jeremy continued: "But what makes me despair is that younger people, especially girls, think she’s pretty cool. They think she was a prisoner of Buckingham Palace, forced to talk about nothing but embroidery and kittens.
"That makes me even angrier. Can’t they see everything that’s happening is so very obviously pre-planned."
Earlier this week, Jeremy attended a Christmas lunch event with Queen Consort Camilla and other public figures like Piers Morgan - who has also been one of the Sussex's biggest critics since they left the royal family.
