Jeremy Clarkson has sparked outrage for making "disgusting" comments about Meghan Markle saying that he dreams of her being subjected to vile abuse.

The Top Gear presenter, 62, left readers "horrified" and "gobsmacked" as he wrote about his hatred of the Duchess and described a fantasy in which she is exposed to public humiliation in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary. The series has sparked a huge reaction from viewers as the pair gave fresh insight into their departure from royal family life.

Writing in The Sun, Clarkson said: "I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level."
