Jeremy Boreing recalls private talk claiming Candace Owens wanted Oprah level fame says critics still find her difficult to defeat

Jeremy Boreing, the co-founder of The Daily Wire, has opened up about conservative commentator Candace Owens and her growing influence. In an interview published by the Daily Mail on March 5, 2026, Boreing shared details about Owens’ rise in media and the time she worked with his company. Boreing said Candace Owens is one of the most powerful voices in conservative media today. Even though she left The Daily Wire in 2024, he believes her reach and popularity make her very difficult to defeat in the public conversation.

During the interview, Boreing also spoke about a private conversation he once had with Owens. According to him, she told him she wanted to reach the level of fame that television icon Oprah Winfrey achieved.

“She said it in a different way to me, but she said essentially the same thing, which is that she wanted to be Oprah,” Boreing told the Daily Mail.

Candace Owens joined The Daily Wire in 2021, where she hosted her show Candace before leaving the company three years later. Her time there helped expand her audience across social media and online platforms.

Jeremy Boreing recalls Candace Owens’ rise at The Daily Wire and says her fame and media instincts shaped her influence

In the interview with the Daily Mail, Jeremy Boreing said Candace Owens had a natural presence in conversations and debates. He explained that she had a strong ability to hold people’s attention when she spoke.

Boreing said that when Owens entered a room or joined a discussion, people often focused on her immediately. “She has what the entertainment industry calls ‘it.’ In almost any situation, she becomes the star of the room,” he said.

He first began paying attention to Owens during the intense political debates that followed the 2020 protests after the killing of George Floyd in the United States. At that time, Owens had already built a public profile. She had worked with PragerU and also served as communications director for Turning Point USA.

According to Boreing, The Daily Wire later brought Candace Owens into the company and launched her show Candace on March 19, 2021. The program quickly became popular with viewers who followed conservative political commentary online.

However, Boreing said his view of Owens changed over time. In the Daily Mail interview, he claimed that Owens often shaped her messaging around what audiences wanted to hear online. He said she understood how digital media works and knew how to attract attention. At the same time, Boreing acknowledged that this skill helped Owens grow her audience. Today, she continues to reach millions of followers across platforms like YouTube and social media.

Candace Owens eventually left The Daily Wire in March 2024. At the time, the company confirmed the separation in a statement. According to CNN on March 22, 2024, the split came after controversy over Owens’ public statements, including comments that critics and the Anti Defamation League described as antisemitic following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

Despite the separation, Candace Owens continues to speak independently to a large online audience. Boreing told the Daily Mail that her communication style and public reach make her a powerful voice in the media world, even for people who strongly disagree with her views.

Jeremy Boreing, co founder of The Daily Wire, said Candace Owens built her influence through strong media instincts and a deep understanding of online audiences. Speaking to the Daily Mail on March 5, 2026, Boreing recalled hiring Owens in 2021 and launching her show Candace. Even after their split in 2024, he said her reach and charisma make her difficult to defeat.
