20th Century and Disney have announced their collaboration on the upcoming film Deliver Me From Nowhere, a project centered around Bruce Springsteen with actor Jeremy Allen White in talks to star as the iconic musician. The film will be written and directed by Scott Cooper, known for his work on Crazy Heart, and is based on the book Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska by Warren Zanes, set to be released in 2023.
The production team includes producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson, Scott Cooper, and Warren Zanes, with Scott Stuber also on board, marking his first project since departing Netflix earlier this year. The involvement of Springsteen and his manager Jon Landau ensures access to the music, a crucial element for the film.
Deliver Me From Nowhere will delve into the creation of Springsteen's acclaimed 1982 album Nebraska, a departure from his previous work with its somber and introspective themes. The album, following the success of The River, surprised fans with its stripped-down sound and poignant lyrics, showcasing a different side of the legendary artist.
Director Scott Cooper expressed his admiration for Springsteen's impact on his own work, highlighting the themes of resilience and hope present in the musician's storytelling. Cooper sees the adaptation of Zanes' book as an opportunity to offer audiences a deeper understanding of Springsteen's artistry and the universal truths he explores in his music.
The film is expected to begin production in the fall, with Cooper and White attached to the project. Cooper is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen, while White is represented by WME and Management 360.
