Jennifer Lopez was having bubble bath when Ben Affleck made very romantic proposal

Jennifer Lopez has revealed the intimate details that made boyfriend Ben Affleck 's proposal so romantic.

Jennifer has explained how the actor caught her off guard in the bath over the weekend and left her with tears "coming down [her] face" after asking her to be his wife for the second time.

The mum-of-two, 52, and the Pearl Harbor actor, 49, rekindled their romance last year - almost 20 years after they they first began dating in 2002.

Last week, the singer and actress revealed Ben had popped the question once again - 19 years on from their original engagement - and speaking to her fans on Tuesday, the star shared some more details about the "nothing fancy at all" proposal.

Writing in her newsletter, On The JLo, Jennifer began by asking fans if they ever imagine their biggest dream coming true.

"Saturday night while at my favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed," she gushed in the email update.

"I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, “is that a yes?’” I said YES of course that’s a YES."

She continued to admit after the actor's proposal she was left crying with joy and feeling " so incredibly happy and whole".

"It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined...just a quiet Saturday night at home, two people promising to always be there for each other," she added when recalling the romantic moment.

She concluded by declared herself and the dad-of-three to be "two very lucky people" who have been given a second chance at true love.

Sharing a couple of snaps of her impressive green diamond ring, Jennifer added that green had always been her lucky colour and "now, for sure, it always will be."

While their reconciliation almost two decades on since they last dated rocked the showbiz world last year, friends of Jennifer have previously claimed she always saw Ben as "the one that got away."

The future Mr and Mrs first met back in 2002 on the set of their critically-panned film, Gigli. At the time, the Jenny From The Block singer was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd.

Jennifer went on to file for divorce from Cris in July 2002 and embarked on a very public relationship with Ben, which eventually led to the actor proposing to the star just months later in November 2002.

However, things weren't meant to be the first time around and the pair split in January 2004, with Jennifer alleged to be the one that ended things with the Good Will Hunting star.

Ben went on to marry actress Jennifer Garner, 49, in 2005 and together they welcomed daughter Violet, 16, and Seraphina, 13, and a 10-year-old son named Samuel.

Jennifer also become a parent - giving birth to twins Emme and Max on February 22, 2008 while married to then-husband Marc Anthony.

Ben and Jennifer rekindled their romance around April 2021 - shortly after the singer called it quits with her former fiancé Alex Rodriguez after a two-year engagement.
