Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's $60.9 million mansion is among the most esteemed homes in Beverly Hills – so it's only fitting that its Christmas decorations match its timelessness and prestige. To guarantee this, the power couple opted for this season's eternal color palette – ensuring their decor will impress this year – and for many holidays ahead.
The singer dressed (what appears to be) her entryway with a Christmas tree adorned in luxury gold ornaments and foliage that bring the color scheme to life. The tree exhibits nothing but gold, but when this color is so powerful, why look for an alternative?
Jennifer, too, subtly celebrated her gold scheme by dressing in a cream and gold skirt that complements her Christmas decorations – just in case we needed more convincing exactly how stylish this hue can be.
Gold has already shaped the most elegant holiday decor for decades, and Jennifer Lopez's tree is yet another reminder of its enduring appeal. Therefore, it is unsurprising that designers were quick to support her color choices – agreeing that this hue will likely look just as fashionable 100 years from now.
'In my practice, I've seen tons of different Christmas decor styles, but the gold one has always been one of my favorites. There's just something so magical about the way gold glimmers and gleams during the holidays,' comments Vancouver-based designer Keely Smith.
'Gold Christmas decor is indeed considered timeless because it is a classic color that has been used in winter holiday decor for many years. It adds elegance and sophistication.'
Decorating with gold can be tricky (but more than possible) over eleven months of the year, but December offers the perfect opportunity to experiment with this hue in every type of space. Using gold ornaments on a tree like Jennifer and Ben's is one way to celebrate, but we can also take this tone to multiple areas around our home.
'Some of my favorite ways to use gold include draping garlands over mantels, hanging multiple strands of jingle bells on trees, and placing gold ornaments throughout,' Keely says.
'Another tip is to mix gold with whites, silvers, blacks, or blues to keep it from feeling too flashy. Those pairings polish it off and make it feel refined. Also, keeping gold as more of an accent instead of going overboard with it helps so it doesn't overwhelm the space,' Keely explains.
'Little things like gold bells or pinecones placed strategically add just enough sparkle. Balancing gold with neutrals like white or green is key, too, so it all ties together cohesively. Letting one of those be the anchor color and then adding gold as the icing on the cake makes for a classy vibe.'
