MIAMI - Jennifer Lopez is ready to release her new song "Can't Get Enough" on Wednesday. It is the lead track from her much-anticipated ninth studio album. Accompanying the single is a lighthearted music video in which Lopez seemingly jests about her own marital record before turning serious.
"This day is very important to me. You could say I've been preparing for it for 20 years." Lopez said in a recent interview at the Golden Globes red carpet, discussing the single's launch at noon.
Although the artist was there as a plus one to husband Ben Affleck, who was nominated in the category of Best Director, she took over the red carpet to promote the single and create buzz for "This Is Me Now," her first album in almost a decade.
Jenny from the Block style
"Can't Get Enough" is a pop dance song in English, following Lopez's globally successful light-hearted musical style.
The video, previewed by the Latin Times, evokes musical movies and choreographic scenes that could be described as Bollywood meets Miami, featuring Lopez in various bridal gowns and dancing with three fictional grooms, possibly representing her three ex-husbands. One of them is her friend and former "Dancing with the Stars" partner Derek Hough. The pair shared judge duty in Lopez's "World of Dance," a reality dance competition TV show.
Lopez's real-life ex-husbands are Ojani Noa, from 1997 to 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003 and Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins Max and Emme, from 2004 to 2014. She married Affleck in 2022.
After the fun part, the video changes direction and seems to show how Lopez really sees her divorces: an U-turn after taking the wrong road.
The Ben and Jen Love Story
"This Is Me Now" is an ambitious project by J.Lo that musically and visually narrates her love life over the past 20 years, culminating in her reconciliation and marriage to current partner Ben Affleck. "It's kind of a meta-story about the journey from heartbreak back to love... I guess I'm kind of an expert. Not so much in marriages but in weddings," she told Variety.
The album serves as a counterpart to "This Is Me...Then," written during her first relationship with Affleck 20 years ago.
Lopez had previously revealed all the track names of the album. They clearly reflect her love story with Affleck. They are "This Is Me...Now", "To Be Yours", "Mad in Love", "Can't Get Enough", "Rebound", "not.going.anywhere", "Dear Ben, Pt. II", "Hummingbird", "Hearts and Flowers", "Broken Like Me", "This Time Around", "Midnight Trip to Vegas", and "Greatest Love Story Never Told".
"Can't Get Enough," the TikTok steps
As the brilliant marketer that she is, Lopez already has the remix ready—an even catchier tune with Jamaican dance hall star Baby Lawd—and posted a few days ago the steps for what she obviously expects to be a viral dance on TikTok.
In a repeat of her strategy for the songs of her movie "Marry Me," when she partnered with Charli D'Amelio, she posted a video dancing with French-Canadian Tiktok star Enola Bedard.
