Jennifer Lopez Cancels Tour Dates Amid Speculation Of Low Sales

Just two weeks after tickets for Jennifer Lopez’s This Is Me … Now tour went on sale, the singer canceled five of her concert dates without explanation. The tour dates in Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, and New Orleans, scheduled from August 22-30, were abruptly canceled with no rescheduled dates provided. Lopez, 54, did not issue a statement regarding the cancellations but shared the revised tour schedule on her Instagram Story on March 13, indicating the U.S. leg of the tour would conclude on August 17 in New York City.

Fans expressed disappointment and confusion over the lack of communication from Lopez regarding the cancellations. Some fans took to Ticketmaster's website to voice their frustration, with one user stating, 'This is disrespectful towards the audience! I can’t even buy a new ticket in another state now, because I don’t know which cities will cancel!' Another commenter questioned, 'Why was this show canceled with no explanation.'

The tour was in support of Lopez’s ninth studio album, This Is Me … Now, which was released in mid-February along with an accompanying Prime Video film of the same name. Lopez invested $20 million of her own money into the project, which has been met with mixed success. The album peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 chart before dropping off, making it Lopez’s least successful release to date.

Speculation arose among fans that the tour cancellations may be linked to lower-than-expected ticket sales following the album's performance on the charts. Lopez had previously discussed her tour preparations on The Tonight Show, expressing her excitement about bringing the album to the stage and hinting that it might be her last musical project due to the exhaustive nature of the endeavor.

While Lopez has not officially announced her retirement from music, This Is Me … Now marks her first studio album in a decade, with the singer focusing on acting roles in recent years. Lopez has appeared in several films, including the 2022 rom-coms Marry Me and Shotgun Wedding, as well as the upcoming action-thriller The Mother. Her future projects include Netflix’s Atlas and a drama produced by Ben Affleck titled Unstoppable.
