Jennifer Garner's beekeeping hobby is the garden trend that will dominate in 2025 – these insects are appearing in the world's most beautiful homes

Jennifer Garner.

At this point, Jennifer Garner is a walking Farmer's market. From her passion for gardening, to her love of cheese, to her penchant for homemade baked goods, the actress is one of the most agriculturally inclined celebrities around. However, we would be remiss not to mention a lesser-known hobby of hers: beekeeping.

The actress first debuted the hobby in a 2018 Instagram post, featuring her impressive honey haul. Surprisingly, her beekeeping hobby was inspired by her child. She stated: 'We had a book about beekeeping and then my daughter just got really into it. I thought, ‘Why can’t we have bees?’ Bees are in trouble. Everyone should have a hive of bees,' in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She has since posted repeatedly with her hives, revealing weekends spent with the eco-friendly insects.

Though Garner was ahead of the curve, beekeeping has been one of the most popular garden trends of recent years. Celebrities from Kate Middleton to David Beckham to Ed Sheeran to Yolanda Hadid have shown their interest in keeping an apiary across social media and interviews. Once a rarity, it seems that caring for bees has become commonplace in the backyards of our favorite celebrities.

Why the sudden interest in attracting bees to your garden? First, with an increased interest in sustainability and environmentalism across the board, bees are cool. In fact, in a new survey by Faith in Nature, 83% of respondents said that saving the bees is important to them. While an interest in preserving the earth was once a fringe passion, increased conversations around climate change and deforestation have brought these issues to the forefront. Beekeeping is a simple way to contribute positively to the environment.

Furthermore, the popularity of beekeeping aligns with other pastoral fantasy trends, such as cottagecore. With UN Statistics reporting that over half of people live in urban areas, projected to rise to 70s by 2050, there is something so idyllic about leaving it all to move to the countryside and live a more rural existence. In the absence of the ability to do this, if you are, say, an internationally recognized actor, beekeeping feels like a way to break off a small chunk of this fantasy and bring it to life in any space. No matter how small your garden, you can live the life of a farmer with a beehive on your property.

Start Your Own Beehive

If you're feelinc inspired, you're in luck! There are dozens of online resources that make it easy to learn how to replicate the apiary in Jennifer Garner's backyard.

Even if you don't have space for a hive, planting flowers that attract bees is a great way to support these beautiful creatures. This can be done on a small plot of land, in pots, or even in window boxes. As per usual, we're happy to follow in Garner's footsteps.
