Jennifer Aniston is said to be "saddened" by claims her late Friends co-star Matthew Perry "assaulted women".
Their friendship pre-dated being cast together in the 90s hit US sitcom as Rachel Green and Chandler Bing respectively and following his death aged 54 last October, she admitted that it "cut deep".
The Morning Show star, 54, put on a brave face as she attended the Critics Choice Awards last week and while she didn't address abuse allegations, told reporters on the red carpet that she wanted people to "celebrate Matthew".
An insider has alleged that Perry "assaulted women", including his including ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz. They also claimed that he lied about being sober after struggling for years with drug and alcohol addiction.
Now, a source has claimed that Aniston and the rest of the Friends core cast feeling "stressed" about the situation.
"The last thing they want to do is to have to give these awful claims any sort of weight by even addressing them, but they’re all very stressed and saddened by this tidal wave of negativity towards Matthew and not sure how to proceed," they explained.
"They all want to remember the kind and loving Matty that they knew," they added to Closer Magazine.
In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing, Perry spoke with affection of a woman named Morgan Moses, who he referred to under the pseudonym "Erin". The Fools Rush In actor described her as his "best friend" and even credited her for saving his life.
However, it has now been claimed that things were very different between the pair.
"Morgan was no longer working with Matthew. He had a horrible breakdown and in the heat of the moment he could not control his emotions. He had a fear that he was going to be abandoned," the source told the Daily Mail.
They alleged that Perry "shoved" Miss Moses into a wall and threw her onto a bed before she left.
Moses is believed to have had stopped working with Perry a year before his memoir was published.
Discussing his ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz, they allege that she "confronted him" after finding a romantic gift he had bought for someone else.
They claim that they had a big argument where Perry "threw a coffee table at her" and she ended the relationship.
