Jennifer Aniston's wooden reindeer reminds us that the best Christmas decor is lighthearted and personal – and it's topping 2024 holiday trends

Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer Aniston is no stranger to shaping our interior design habits – her Californian homes, designed by the acclaimed Stephen Shadley, are beloved by H&G's celebrity style team for a reason, after all. However, her influence extends to seasonal decor, including the most fun holiday of all: Christmas. And in true Aniston style, she was way ahead of the curve.

Back in 2022, the Friends star offered a glimpse into her Christmas decor style on Instagram – sharing a carousel of images, including one of her out tree shopping. However, while the towering tree that fronted the post was inspiring in its own right, fans were distracted by something else – her wooden reindeer. At the time, we commented on its cute aesthetic, but now, its personality and lightheartedness mean it's ahead of a 2024 Christmas trend.

Aniston's Rudolph is made from small wooden logs that make up the animal's body and face; the two antlers are made up of Christmas tree branches; and a small crimson tree ornament is used for the iconic red nose. The reindeer is also wrapped in a black and white chequered scarf, as seen below (the second post along).

'Good luck to all the wooden Rudolphs out there,' Aniston wrote after sharing a video of her dogs who excitably greeted the wooden ornament by jumping around her living space.

'Hey, be nice; he's just here for the hols. He's just visiting,' she tells her dogs, Clyde and Chesterfield, in the footage. Later, the wooden reindeer is photographed sitting among the two dogs in her home.

While a wooden reindeer may not be the first thing you associate with A-list celebrities, the comments on Jennifer's post suggest she is not the only one who has brought a Rudolph home.

'I got the same one,' shared New York Times bestselling author and purpose coach Jay Shetty. Australian actress Isla Fisher was among the other celebrities who showed their admiration, adding that she 'needs' one for herself. Thankfully for her, she can indeed pick one up for this Christmas. Though it's not the exact same model, we've found an almost-perfect dupe via Etsy. It's currently

After gaining millions of likes and approval from a host of celebrities, we sense this wooden reindeer could be the most unexpected Christmas trend of the year. Our digital editor, Jennifer Ebert, notes how she's noticed light-hearted decor, much like Ansiton's, brings a fun twist to the way we will decorate over this upcoming holiday season.

'Cute, lighthearted, and personal decorations have been popular for a few years now. However, this Christmas, I feel we have full permission to fill our homes with exactly what makes us happy. There's an increasing awareness that our spaces should represent us and the items that feel unique and individual, and Christmas is the best time to bring this to life,' she says. 'Aniston's reindeer is the perfect example of this. Her Christmas decor doesn't take itself too seriously, but it remains stylish and inspiring – what's not to love?'.

For the ultimate Christmas living room decor idea, Ebert recommends blending a Nordic-style ornament with soft cream and white textures, Christmas plants, and more wooden tones that bring a Scandi-inspired twist to these lighthearted pieces. Alternatively, she loves this similar reindeer (available on Wayfair), which is perfect for bringing the Aniston-inspired look outside to our porch or backyard.
