Former Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Jeffrey Donaldson has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for 18 historical sexual offences against two girls, after a pre-sentence report assessed him as posing a 'medium' risk of reoffending. Judge Paul Ramsey handed down the sentence at Newry Crown Court on Thursday, 15 October.
Donaldson, 63, was convicted in June of one count of rape, 13 counts of indecent assault and four counts of gross indecency. The offences took place between 1985 and 1991, and between 1999 and 2008, when the victims were children.
