Jeff Stelling blames sons as Soccer Saturday host deletes explicit Christmas tweet

Jeff Stelling blamed his sons after his Twitter account posted an explicit photo appearing to show a penis wrapped in bacon amongst a tray of pigs in blankets.

The Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host took to social media on Christmas Eve with a picture of sausages wrapped in bacon on a tray lined with tin foil - but there was an imposter on the bottom right in the form of a penis alongside the caption: "Love cooking Xmas dinner, I always do it in the buff!"

The tweet quickly gained plenty of traction on social media, being viewed by many of Stelling's 220,000 followers before he later deleted the explicit post. In response, however, he blamed his sons and claimed neither would be getting Christmas presents.

Stelling said: "My bloody sons. All their presents going back ! All Robbie will get is a Darlo shirt and Matt a ticket to a Palace game. FFS !!"

Stelling, 67, has presented Gillette Soccer Saturday since 1994 and become an iconic figure in sports broadcasting. He married wife Liz in 1998 and they have three children, sons Robbie and Matthew, born in 1998 and 1999 respectively, and a daughter, Olivia, born in 2003.

Whilst Olivia seems to have avoided blame for the mischievous tweet, Robbie is facing a shirt of Darlington, rivals of their club, Hartlepool, as a present whilst Brighton fan Matt could get a Crystal Palace ticket as punishment.

Stelling was set to quit Sky Sports' flagship football results show at the end of last season after 30 years with the broadcaster but performed a U-turn to stay on board.

"Sky Sports is my home, and the Soccer Saturday team are a big part of my life," said Stelling at the time. "As the end of the season approached, and I was preparing to say goodbye, I realised that I was not ready to blow the final whistle and leave the best job in the world.

"I am thrilled to be staying, and excited about moving the show forward and creating more special Saturday afternoons on Sky Sports."

Managing director of Sky Sports Jonathan Licht added: "Football fans everywhere will be delighted that Jeff will continue to host Soccer Saturday. He is a massive part of Saturday afternoon life and everyone at Sky Sports shares the joy this news will bring.

"We just can't get enough of Jeff, and can't wait to bring more of his broadcasting magic to our viewers."
