Jedward fans fly from Germany to Dublin to take selfies with the Lucan twins

It’s been 13 years since Jedward first appeared on our screens with their quiffs and epic energy.

A lot of famous people have come and gone in that time, but not the Lucan lads. Fans flew from Germany and England for a chance to get a selfie with the twins this morning at the opening of Krispy Kreme's store on Dame Street. They queued up from 5:00am for the boys who are known for their appearances on Eurovision, Big Brother and of course X Factor.

But how are the boys still relevant over a decade later? Easy, they treat their fans as friends and they keep up to date with the latest social media apps.

They told Dublin Live: “We’re 100 percent professionals. We do our own hair. You buzz off everyone's energy and it gives you the kick you need. People turned up, so we had to turn up as ourselves and bring the energy for them.

“We’re always doing stuff for our fans, we’re doing music, TikTok, live videos. We keep going with the times. Our TikToks are real. You find yourself going for a nice walk, you see something and you freestyle. Original stuff for us does better rather than the trends.

“We’re still new to it but the most random things take off. People in general put a lot of pressure on social media. You just need to live your life. We’re having the laugh and that’s what life is about, it should be celebrated. People ask us ‘would you ever grow up lads’. It’s a platform to let loose and have a laugh.”

With the new season of Big Brother on the cards for ITV next year, the boys admitted that they would “never say never” to revisit the show they participated in twice - and made friends for life on.

“We’d love to present Celebrity Big Brother because we’ve done it twice. We know how it works. People are talking about Davina and Rylan. You never know what’s around the corner.

“Tara (Reid) is amazing, a lot of people in the public have prejudged opinions of us. But we actually know each other on a human level and support each other, it’s important to have someone like that. We’re there for each other, we can talk about anything. We have pep talks with her. Edward got her to join TikTok. She was wearing nude lip for a while and I told her to wear a pink lipstick to show them off.”

For those who say it’s all an act, it’s not, as even John and Edward have the typical and inevitable sibling rows. But at the end of the day, they’d do anything for each other.

Edward said: “Me and John wreck each other's heads. Sometimes we’re not on the same page. Sometimes John will style his hair perfectly, meanwhile I wouldn’t be ready to face that much hairspray. Sometimes John can be critical but I’m always rooting for him and I’m his biggest fan.”
