Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance recently criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her approach to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Vance accused Harris of pursuing policies that have prolonged the war and failing to support Israel effectively.
Vance claimed that Harris's reluctance to provide Israel with precision-guided weapons to target Hamas while minimizing civilian casualties has hindered the resolution of the conflict. He argued that Harris's actions have emboldened Iran and weakened Israel's ability to achieve long-term security in the region.
According to Vance, the conflict would have ended much sooner if Israel had been allowed to take decisive action. He blamed what he described as Harris's weak leadership for the prolonged duration of the war and the loss of civilian lives on both sides.
While Harris acknowledged the importance of the alliance between the US and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, she stopped short of calling him a close ally. Vance criticized the Biden administration for what he perceived as indecisiveness and inconsistency in its handling of the conflict, which he believes has hindered the prospects for peace in the Middle East.
In response to the criticism, Harris and Biden released statements reaffirming their support for Israel while also calling for a ceasefire and diplomatic solutions to end the violence in Gaza and address Israel's conflict with Hezbollah.
