Vice President JD Vance canceled his appearance at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event at Iowa State University, where he was scheduled to speak alongside Erika Kirk.
TPUSA confirmed that Kirk, whose husband Charlie Kirk was killed at a previous event, would now speak alone, stating Vance's cancellation was due to "scheduling conflicts" and not security concerns.
This withdrawal follows an incident weeks earlier where Erika Kirk unexpectedly pulled out of a joint event with Vance at the University of Georgia, citing security concerns after her husband's fatal shooting.
During the Georgia event, Vance was heckled by an attendee who confronted him on the war in Iran, shouting, "Jesus Christ does not support genocide."
The Iowa event's cancellation occurred shortly after an attempted assassination of Donald Trump and other administration members at the White House Correspondents dinner, an event both Vance and Kirk attended, with Kirk later describing it as a "traumatic example of the evil in our country."
