The Boston Celtics defeated the Utah Jazz 122-114 this past Friday night but that was not their most formidable opponent that night. Travel issues forced the team to arrive in Boston only hours before the game, after their resounding win vs. the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
The team was unable to find a pilot for their flight to their next game, and also unable to find a hotel to stay in once they were delayed. Speaking after the Jazz game, Jayson Tatum credited those issues as the extra push the team needed to handle business against Utah (via MassLive’s Souichi Terada).
“Everything that happened today, we could have made an excuse … but it just kind of brought us closer together, right? Everybody just was like, ‘It’s not going to be perfect but we’re going to figure out a way to win this game.’”
The Celtics currently sit 1.5 games behind the Bucks in the race for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, so every game matters.
It’s good to see that the team understands that and found a way to win under less-than-ideal circumstances.
