Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has reportedly suffered a facial fracture following a scary in-game collision with Jayson Tatum Wednesday night, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic. Tatum’s right elbow caught Brown in the face as both men went for a rebound in the final moments of the first half.
Brown got up quickly and under his own power before heading to the Celtics locker room. The team quickly announced he would not return, initially citing a “face contusion.” Hours later, Charnia reported Brown is believed to have suffered a facial fracture, saying he could miss “some time” because of the injury. Brown will be examined by a specialist tomorrow, according to Charania.
Brown was named an All-Star this season, but he could be sidelined beyond the game. This year’s All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
