Jrue Holiday, champion boxer? Maybe not at this point in his life, but he certainly made All-NBA Boston Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown think of one while watching his defensive style in the Celtics’ 108-104 win over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. “He’s like the fighter that is always like walking you down,” said Brown via NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg. “Do you watch boxing?”
“He’s always like putting pressure on you. Just not always trying to swing or throw a punch but just always in your space. That’s kind of Jrue. He’s always in that (boxing ring when he’s defending), you know what I mean?”
Despite a rough shooting night from the floor for Holiday, going 4-of-10 overall and just 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, the UCLA alum’s teammates raved about how his defense helped open up their games.

Newly equipped with players who can help influence winning even on nights when they can’t hit the broad side of a barn, Boston is in a good position to start their 2023-24 NBA season.
And with a win banked vs. a quality opponent at that.
