Silly Season may yet be a ways off with the 2022-23 NBA regular season still underway and the 2023 postseason still needing to be played. But we ought to take trade rumors bubbling up from Texas of late with a very large grain of salt, specifically rumors that star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has eyes to leave the team, perhaps for the Houston Rockets.
Such was the reporting coming from ESPN 97.5 Houston radio host John Granato this week. Speaking on his “The Bench” show, Granato related that he had gotten “some insight into the Rockets organization” regarding their plans for the nearer-term future.
“Bringing in veterans, they’re going to do that. I’ll tell you this,” he added, seemingly injecting his opinion in with the intel he received from Houston. “You’re going to hear a lot of noise about Jaylen Brown.”

“He wants out of Boston,” Granato suggested, not sharing whether that’s his opinion or something he has heard from sources. “It’s the same as Harden.”
Granato also hinted former Celtics head coach Ime Udoka might end up helming the Rockets. Whether or not he actually has heard something specific regarding Brown and Houston, the Celtics ought to take seriously the potential for a Brown decampment.
Meaning the ability of the team ought to push as hard as it can for the Georga native to make All-NBA this season in order to be able to offer him a supermax extension that would make his future plans evident before he hits free agency.
