Even Jaycee Horn seems tired of talking about Jaycee Horn’s injuries.
On Tuesday morning, the Carolina Panthers cornerback spoke to reporters as he moved into his third training camp in Spartanburg, S.C. And, as expected, he was asked about his health right off the top of his media availability.
“Ready to go, ready to go,” Horn said of his on-field availability.
The talented 23-year-old has been dealt a rough card to start his NFL career. Horn, due mostly to breaks of his foot and wrist, has played in just 16 games between 2021 and 2022—one fewer than he’s missed.
An all-too-familiar sight then reared it ugly head again a few weeks back, as Horn was sidelined for a portion of organized team activities and mandatory minicamp because of another foot injury. But Horn, who said he won’t start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, declined to reveal the exact nature of how it came to be.
“I don’t wanna talk about the injury, whatever,” he said to Joe Person of The Athletic. “What matters is I’m here, I’m 100 percent, I’m ready to go. I’m just focused. Just gettin’ ready for the season.”
Person then asked how “bad” the injury was. Horn, after a bit of an awkward pause and stare, replied with the same answer.
“I’m here. Focused on the season. I’m ready to go. I’m 100 percent.”
