Jay Williams explains why he’s worried about the Warriors heading into the playoffs

The Golden State Warriors‘ title defense will soon begin as the NBA playoffs kick off April, but there are plenty of questions surrounding the team as they battle for position in the Western Conference standings.

Perhaps the biggest unknown is the status of Andrew Wiggins, who last played on February 13th before taking an indefinite leave of absence to address a private personal issue.

Coach Steve Kerr recently divulged that Wiggins has been “working out every day” in an attempt to remain conditioned for a potential return, but noted that Wiggins’ status is still uncertain.

According to ESPN’s Jay Williams, the Warriors don’t have a chance of reaching the NBA Finals without Wiggins back in the lineup.

“The one thing that worries me about the Golden State Warriors that is the biggest story that nobody’s really talking about in the national media in the NBA is the loss of Andrew Wiggins for this team. And nobody knows when he’s coming back because he’s obviously dealing with some personal issues.

Don’t forget about how imperative he was last year during the playoff run for them. In the NBA Finals he averaged 18 and a half points, nine and a half rebounds and he was their best defensive wing player. He’s a huge loss for them.”
