Jaw-dropping Midlothian farmhouse with pool and sauna hits the market

A Midlothian farmhouse has hit the market with some seriously impressive features, boasting everything from a huge garden to an indoor swimming pool.

Tucked away at the foot of the Pentland Hills, the traditional stone property shows you really do get more for your money outside of Edinburgh, with the entire site costing offers over £435,000. With a house that comes with its own pool and sauna coming in at at least over one million in the capital, the four-bedroom house appears to be a serious steal.

Named 'Silverburn Farmhouse', the property is thought to have been first built in the 1800s, but has been renovated and seen more modern add ons constructed over the years.

Coming with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, the house may need a bit of freshening up when it comes to the decor, with some rooms looking a little dated.

However, the layout and structure are all ideal, with one of the bathrooms boasting it's own miniature sauna, as well as a huge attic bedroom which could be used as an office or home cinema room.

The main gem is in an outbuilding just across from the farmhouse, containing a large indoor pool and decking that could house a few lounge chairs.

Looking out over the huge garden, the pool building also has a much larger and impressive sauna for you to relax in.

On the market through Cameron Stephen & Co, the agents said: "Silverburn Farmhouse is a superb traditional, stone-built property, set within large gardens with a gravel driveway, two double garages, large gardens, an indoor swimming pool and a separate sauna, all at the foot of the Pentland Hills.

"Dating from the early 1800s this is a beautiful stone-built former farmhouse with outbuildings (latterly used as double garages) with a large enclosed garden at the foot of the Pentland Hills.

"The house itself now requires some modernisation and upgrading but offers exceptional potential to create a wonderful family home. The accommodation comprises an entrance hall, two public rooms, both with fireplaces, a dining kitchen, utility room, office/bedroom 4 and a family bathroom.

"On the first floor, there are 3 bedrooms (master with en suite shower and sauna), and on the attic floor, there is a large lined attic room with velux window, a wc and access to a further eaves storage area. Externally, there are two large outbuildings, with power (previously used as garages), a covered patio area, a wood store and a raised lawn.

"The swimming pool is located within its own purpose-built timber structure with a vaulted ceiling and stone tiled floor, a second timber structure houses the sauna and shower room. There is a further area of garden with a sunken pond, pergola and sun house, all enclosed by timber fencing and a stone wall and offering wonderful countryside views of the Pentland Hills.

"The property benefits from new UPVC double glazing and some further secondary glazing, new front doors, and a combination of electric storage and LPG heating. There are solar panels mounted on the roof of the main house, with batteries which store the generated power (for the electric heating etc, which are more economical than the LPG) and on the swimming pool roof, (separate from the main house).

"Overall, this is an outstanding property, which will require some love and attention but will become a much-loved family home."
