Jason Manford battles through Scottish snowstorm like 'The Truman Show'

Scotland was hit with terrible weather over the weekend, with storms Eunice and Dudley reaping havoc over the country.

Stand up comedian Jason Manford just happened to be in Edinburgh performing at the Playhouse and took to Facebook to share the travel chaos he got caught up in, trying to return home.

He even went on to compare the weather fiasco to 1998 Jim Carrey comedy-drama, The Truman Show.

Posting a video of the heavy snowfall, he wrote: "Well Scotland I didn’t realise you wanted me to stay in your country so badly! Like the bloody Truman Show trying to get out tonight! Was planning on getting back to Stockport in one go but might be a hotel job part way I reckon!"

The Truman Show stars Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who grew up living a seemingly ordinary and idylic life that—unbeknownst to him—takes place on a large set populated by actors for a television show about him.

The movie follows Truman as he realises what's been going on all his life, and then struggles but repeatedly fails to escape the town - and universe - he's been inhabiting.

Many commented on Jason's post, delighted with the joke.

One wrote: "blimey, we're off to Edinburgh today for a few days, I've packed jumpers and pants!"

Another wrote: "you did well to by the looks of the clips, stay safe funny fella."

While one said: "We just drove back to Hamilton from seeing you in Edinburgh. Wasn't quite as bad going west but I think it's coming this way. Safe journey, was a great night!"

Jason finally gave his followers an update on his journey.

He declared: "Made it home!"

The comic appeared to enjoy his night at the Playhouse and even posted a selfie with the audience on his Instagram page.

He wrote: "This was me taking a photo of the crowd at the Edinburgh Playhouse but also blocking out a woman who was giving me tips on how to take a photo.

"Great crowd & support act @susiemccabecomic absolutely smashed it as always.Always a pleasure Edinburgh. More Scottish dates coming soon."
