Jason Kelce’s days playing in the NFL are done, but his wait to reunite with his former Eagles teammates wasn’t long at all.
The longtime Eagles center — now working with ESPN as a part of the Monday Night Countdown crew — will be back in Philadelphia on Monday for the Week 2 matchup against the Falcons. And it only made sense for ESPN to task Kelce with interviewing quarterback Jalen Hurts.
And sure, you’re not going to get an impartial interview when it comes to Kelce and Hurts. But that didn’t really matter because the authenticity between the former teammates was on display, particularly during this exchange.
Jason Kelce interviews Jalen Hurts for ESPN:
Hurts: “The one thing I respected about you so much was you had a lot on your plate. You had a lot you were responsible for but you always did it for the guy next to you. I love you.”
Kelce: "I love you, too." pic.twitter.com/gQu7EB7kxN

In a preview clip of the interview, we heard as Hurts explained what he really respected about Kelce. He said:
“The one thing I respected about you so much was you had a lot on your plate. You had a lot on your plate. You had a lot you were responsible for, but you always did it for the guy next to you. That’s the one thing I always respect because that’s what it’s about — being in that position, being a center, setting the table in different areas. The underdog mentality, the underdog spirit, all of it. I love you.”
To which Kelce responded, “I love you too.”
Fans understandably enjoyed that moment between Kelce and Hurts. It was great to watch.
