The longtime Los Angeles home of late NBA player Jason Collins has been put on the market for $3.75 million, months after the former basketball star died from glioblastoma at the age of 47. Collins had lived in the Brentwood-area property since 2004, making it his home for more than two decades during important years of his personal life and NBA career.
Collins bought the property for $2.39 million, according to PropertyShark records. The residence is now being sold by a relative, while Coldwell Banker Realty agent Tania Ferris brought the property to the market earlier this month.
Jason Collins’ Home Was His Residence For More Than 22 Years
Ferris highlighted the personal significance of the property, which Collins called home for more than two decades.
“Jason Collins loved and called this beautiful property his home for more than 22 years and through the defining chapters of his life and career,” Ferris said, according to Mansion Global.
Located on Promontory Road, the house is around 30 minutes south of Collins’ childhood neighbourhood of Northridge. It is part of MountainGate, a guard-gated country club community situated in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The community offers privacy and security, along with hiking trails, a community pool and spa, landscaped common areas and optional access to golf, tennis and social facilities at MountainGate Country Club.
Inside The 5,000-Square-Foot Los Angeles Property
Built in 1989, the red-tile-roof home covers just over 5,000 square feet and features expansive living spaces. The main floor has two double-height living rooms, both equipped with fireplaces.
One of the living rooms includes a dining nook, while the other has glass doors that open towards the pool area. The property also features a formal dining room and a large kitchen with an island, bar seating and a separate dining area.
All four bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms. The primary bedroom includes a fireplace, pitched ceiling, private veranda and two walk-in closets. Its bathroom has a sunken bathtub, adding to the home's resort-style design.
Pool, Hot Tub And Outdoor Entertainment Area
The backyard is designed for outdoor gatherings and includes a swimming pool, partially covered patio and dedicated barbecue area.
The property also features an “exceptionally large” hot tub, which the listing says offers enough room for both exercise and relaxation.
With views of the surrounding mountains and its location inside a private gated community, the residence combines a secluded setting with access to Los Angeles. The home is currently listed for $3.75 million.
