Jaren Hall has been named the starter for the Minnesota Vikings’ game this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, per comments from head coach Kevin O’Connell. The decision comes in the wake of the Vikings making a move today to trade for former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs.

Minnesota sent a sixth-round pick to the Cardinals in exchange for Dobbs and a seventh. That seventh-round pick has the potential to become a sixth-round pick, should Dobbs eventually overtake Hall, becoming the starter and performing well.
But for now, the Vikings are set to continue on with Hall, who came into last week’s game against the Packers in relief of starter Kirk Cousins after his torn Achilles tendon injury.
We’ll have to wait and see how long it takes Dobbs to get acclimated to his new team and to learn the playbook. It will create an interesting decision for O’Connell and the Vikings front office if Hall plays well on Sunday and gives them something to think about going forward.
