Japan is embarking on one of the most consequential overhauls of its intelligence system since World War II, launching a powerful new National Intelligence Bureau as Tokyo confronts mounting security challenges from China, Russia and North Korea, according to a CNN report.
The new body, which begins operations on July 31, is designed to bring intelligence scattered across different arms of the Japanese government under a stronger central command.
