Janey Godley shares smiling selfie as she starts first round of chemotherapy

Scots comedian Janey Godley will start her first round of chemotherapy today to help eradicate any cancer left behind from her hysterectomy.

Before Christmas, the 61-year-old revealed that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and last month she underwent the major surgery to attempt to remove it.

However, surgeons said that she had stage 3b cancer which would require further treatment.

Today is the day that she starts the treatment and Janey marked the occasion with a smiling selfie.

She wrote: "Up early for my first chemotherapy today, hopefully it will eradicate any wee cancer b******s left behind from the hysterectomy. See you soon @Beatson_Charity."

And many people sent their well wishes.

One wrote: "Good luck! Let us know how it is, I'm 6 weeks into a triple negative breast cancer diagnosis and I'm following your story like you're the messiah!"

Another said: "Sending healing vibes your way."

While one wrote: "All the best Janey, you got this."

One commented: "You got this!!! Sending you lots of love from Australia."

Janey also previously revealed that she will cut her hair off as she undergoes chemo.

Just last week, Janey spoke openly about how cancer is affecting her and her family.

On a video clip speaking to her daughter Ashley, Janey got teary and said: "It's honestly really hard to find a place where I feel ok because everything just feels really bleak. I know that I've got to be positive and pull on my big girl pants and 'you got this' but there's naewhere in my heid that feels ok.

She added: "I know I'm going to go through chemotherapy... but I canny see beyond that, what if beyond that they scan me and fine more? And I know I'm not supposed to think like that but who the f**k are you to tell me how I'm supposed to think?

"What if after all this they might find more and keep snapping bits off me like I'm a f*****g gingerbread man until finally there's one wee bit of me left that doesn't have cancer."

In part two of the conversation, fellow comic Ashley went on to say that she feels her mum needs something to keep her occupied as 'steeping' can't be good for her soul.

Janey got a bit emotional last week (Twitter)

Janey answered: "My soul's already f*****g broke I think. And people have been so supportive, and I feel as though I'm letting everybody doon because I've got aw this love and aw this support, other people don't have this love and support and I'm getting it and I'm still not being lifted, so maybe I'm an ungrateful b*****d."

We are wishing Janey all the best and a speedy recovery!
