Janey, 60, hailed 'exemplary' NHS staff after surgery to remove her womb a few weeks ago but suffering an ileus as a result, was 'worse than the operation'.

"The downside of my surgery was, I suffered an 'IIeus' which meant the intestines got temporary paralysis and they needed to use a gastric nasal tube to suction pump out my stomach contents to stop me vomiting them up, which I was doing as I was holding the wound.

"I was nil by mouth for the majority of my post operative stay and eventually after intravenous fluids and nasal stomach suction they watched to see if the 'Ileus would calm down.

"The IIeus was worse than the operation."

She added:"Finally the docs tentatively made a spigot on the nasal tube to see if the intestine would start working and I would stop vomiting, I did.

"I finally stopped and they took out the nasal tube which was sore in my throat and prevented me from drinking properly and swallowing.

"I was the last to leave the ward even though I was the first to be operated on with the other women in our room.

"The care I received was amazing, they x-rayed me to make sure the gastric tube was in the correct place and monitored my fluids.

"Weirdly I forgot about the womb wound and the stomach pains because I was so focused on the nasal tube and not heaving up green moss water, I am glad to be past all that and on the road to recovery and onwards to chemotherapy."
