The alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction has announced the cancellation of their latest tour following an incident between lead singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during a concert in Boston.
In a statement released on Monday, the band explained that they have decided to take some time away as a group, leading to the cancellation of the remaining tour dates.
The altercation between Farrell and Navarro took place on stage during a performance in Boston, where videos captured Farrell lunging at Navarro and attempting to physically engage with him. Navarro was seen trying to keep Farrell at a distance before others intervened and removed Farrell from the stage.
Jane’s Addiction, known for their edgy, punk-inspired hits such as “Been Caught Stealing” and “Mountain Song” from the late 1980s and early 1990s, issued an apology following the incident in Boston.
According to a social media post by Etty Lau Farrell, Perry Farrell’s wife, the lead singer had been experiencing frustration due to the loud stage volume, which was drowning out his vocals. Perry Farrell, who had been dealing with tinnitus and a sore throat, reportedly felt the need to scream to be heard over the band’s sound.
The band’s “Imminent Redemption” tour, which began in early August, was scheduled to conclude on October 16 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
