Jane McDonald has revealed the "secret" behind her weight loss after dropping three dress sizes. The singer and TV favourite, who recently dazzled viewers of the British Soap Awards, admitted she used to feast on sugary foods and wine but has recently simply changed her mindset.
Jane, who was a size 14 in 2016 and is now a size 8, confessed to Women's Own: "Life’s too short not to have a scone or two, you’ve got to give yourself a little bit of pleasure."
The TV legend, who turned 60 in April, went on to share how she is embracing the new decade of her life by keeping fit and healthy but insisted she isn’t about keeping her diet restricted. She said: "I know when to stop and I think that’s the secret.

"I have everything I want, but I don’t always finish it. I also have plenty of salad.” Jane added: "I used to eat so much rubbish. I didn’t realise how much rubbish I used to eat."
The Channel 5 star explained, according to to the Express, how she used to eat "rubbish" due to being tired from her hectic TV and filming schedule but now tucks into two meals a day, with her morning starting with a green smoothie, made up with a blend of raw greens, flax seeds, chia seeds, spinach, kale, mint and banana.
Jane also credits Sugar Free Farm - a TV show she featured on back in 2016 - with changing her mindset, and thanked it for giving her the tools and knowledge to be able to tailor her diet to something more healthy. "What made me so angry was when I found out just how much added sugar there is in pre-prepared food," she said.
"It’s literally in everything. I'd been consuming it for years, without even knowing it." Jane revealed: "We had to cut out alcohol, cakes, biscuits, convenience food… everything. The hardest thing for me was missing red wine. Oh, I love my wine! But now I've completely cut down on it, and only have a glass once a week. That's a HUGE deal for me!"
But it wasn't just all about her diet as fans are often left in awe of Jane's youthful complexion. And she has now revealed her secret weapon, saying she swears by CeraVe’s “fantastic” hyaluronic acid serum, as well as products by Elemis and Gatineau to get her skin glowing.
Last week, Jane was flooded with praise by fans after she was drafted in at the last minute to host the British Soap Awards, which was filmed in front of a live audience at The Lowry theatre in Salford before airing on ITV, after Phillip Schofield stepped back from his role on ITV following his confession of an affair with a much younger ITV colleague.
As she took to the stage, Channel 5 star and former Loose Women panellist Jane was met with a huge round of applause from the audience and she thanked them for welcoming her to such a prestigious event. The self-confessed soap fan looked stunning in a gold sequin gown as she thanked everyone for welcoming her.
Flocking to social media, viewers also showed their support for the last-minute host. @AmyJoanne__ tweeted: "Yes. I already love Jane as host. Same every year then????? #britishsoapawards2023." @teenamassam applauded: "Jane McDonald bringing the glam and doing a fabulous job presenting…#britishsoapawards2023."
@MrRichieW wrote: "Jane McDonald really is a breath of fresh air, isn’t she" and @clarecrichton agreed saying: "Jane McDonald can’t put a foot wrong she’s an absolute treasure." @betbinch added: "Jane McDonald should have been hosting the British Soap Awards all along. She at least gives off the impression that she spends her evenings watching Corrie."
