JAMSHEDPUR: The police have arrested senior BJP leader, Abhay Singh, in connection with the communal clash which occurred in Shastrinagar area of Jamshedpur on Sunday.
The SP, City, K Vijay Shankar, has said that the BJP leader is accused of inciting the group. In the course of the preliminary investigation, it was found that he played a role in the communal clash. He has been named in the FIR, SP said.
Further, supporters of Abhay Singh, created ruckus at the Bistupur police station, when their leader was being taken to the jail.
Meanwhile, the internet service was restored in the evening following 19 hours of suspension.
The district administration in a press communique has said that internet service has been restored. But, prohibited orders will continue to be in place till further orders.
The district administration carried out eviction drive in the violence hit shastrinagar earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, DC, Vijaya Jadhav, and SSP, Prabhat Kumar, are camping in the troubled area.
