Jamie Webster 'in tears' after sell-out On The Waterfront gig

Jamie Webster has thanked the "tribe of Scousers" who helped him to achieve his dreams.

The singer-songwriter played two sellout shows on the Pier Head this weekend at the On the Waterfront festival and thousands braved the rain to see him perform. The concerts were the culmination of a long road to success for the former electrician who gained fame after his version of "Allez Allez Allez" went viral in 2018.

He has now taken to Twitter to thank his fans who he called "the most special people to ever exist" for helping him to reach yet another milestone in his career. In an extensive post, he also thanked his family, friends, and his band.

The post said: "I don't really know how to put Thursday and Friday into words, I'm sat here in a bit of a bubble still; I can't remember everything yet because I was in a place I've never been before on that stage on each of those nights.

"I keep getting flashbacks of moments and I keep breaking into tears and smiles. To have an army of fans like you stand in front of me and share these moments with is something I don't think I'll ever be able to describe."

Webster also thanks those who have been with him since the start of his musical journey as well as those from outside Liverpool who "made the trip" to come and see him. On the Waterfront also saw a host of other local bands take to the stage including, The Coral, Red Rum Club, and Cheap Thrills.

He added: "For a lad born in Liverpool, you don't understand how mind-blowing it was to be on that stage, in between the River Mersey and the Liverbird, in front of you all - you really don't. I'm in tears writing this because I just can't quite get my head round the fact that it happened."

The post continued: "In a world full of bad news and constant new challenges faced just to keep your head about the ground; it's nights like these that make life worth living, and make you realise that life can be beautiful as well at times.

"Have a good weekend in paradise, look after yourselves, look after each other. Those gigs will be the stories I tell my kids and grandkids if I'm ever lucky enough to have them.

"Thank you for making a local lad's dreams come true once again. My city, my people, my heart."
