Jamie Shackleton close to Leeds United exit as loan move to Millwall closes in

Jamie Shackleton is closing in on a season-long loan move to Millwall, according to the Athletic. Although he featured in the opening friendly - a 4-0 win against Blackpool - the 22-year-old was left out of Jesse Marsch’s 26-man squad for the pre-season tour of Australia, instead remaining in West Yorkshire to make a decision on his future.

The versatile youngster courted interest from a host of Championship clubs, with Millwall the player’s preferred destination. He will link up with fellow Whites academy graduate and loanee Charlie Cresswell, who joined the Lions for the upcoming campaign at the start of July.

And the report suggests that a medical could take place as early as tomorrow, with all parties involved keen to get a deal finalised quickly. Shackleton has fallen down the pecking order under Marsch after a raft of new signings - both he and the club are desperate for more regular minutes at a pivotal juncture in his personal development.
