Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has revealed he now employs advisers to avoid offending anyone or being accused of cultural appropriation with his recipes.
Oliver told Sunday Times Culture magazine : "Your immediate reaction is to be defensive and say, "For the love of God, really?" And then you go, "Well, we don’t want to offend anyone"."
Recipes he uses are vetted with 'offence advisers' and Oliver said his Empire roast chicken recipe from 2012 would not be acceptable today.
Previous Jamie Oliver recipes have caused offence.
In 2018 he was criticised for launching a jerk rice pouch, and in 2014 he was criticised for a Jollof rice recipe on his website.
In 2018, Dawn Butler, MP for Brent Central in north west London and others, suggested Oliver's jerk rice was not faithful to the original Caribbean recipe.
In 2014, some people of West African heritage said his Jollof recipe again did not follow tradition.
