Jamie O'Hara has x-rated argument with Liverpool fan as Manchester United mocked

Liverpool may have regained the Premier League lead on Saturday night, but there were several frustrated faces at full-time of their 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

After Heung-min Son had given Spurs the lead with his 20th of the campaign it was Luis Diaz’s deflected effort that ensured a share of the spoils for the Reds, whose need for dropped Manchester City points is now greater than ever.

But you knew all of that, of course. What you might have missed, however, were a series of intriguing subplots throughout the day at Anfield.

Humphrey's prediction spot on

BT Sport’s Jake Humphrey was gaining a fair bit of pre-match attention in Stanley Park. As the presenter shot some footage before the game got underway, he was accosted by a handful of supporters looking to get a selfie around a couple of hours before kick-off.

More than happy to oblige, the presenter spoke to fans outside the ground about the Reds, with one in particular asking him how he thought the match might play out.

A confident declaration of 1-1 was, as it turned out, right on the money. Even if it didn't go particularly well with those he predicted it to in the park at the time.

Man Utd schadenfreude

There's been plenty to cheer from Liverpool's perspective this season but that didn't stop those on the Kop also indulging in a spot of schadenfreude at the expense of Manchester United too.

One of the biggest reactions of the day was heard when legendary announcer George Sephton informed those in attendance that Brighton had in fact beaten United 4-0 before kick-off.

The result meant nothing to Liverpool in the grand scheme of this Premier League season but there was no way Reds fans were going to let that news pass without a cheer.

Talk about rubbing it in.

O'Hara gets into war of words

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara was one of several former players in the press box on Saturday that also included Jermaine Pennant and Robbie Keane.

And while O'Hara's filming of his own celebrations when Spurs went 1-0 up raised an eyebrow or two, it was after the full-time whistle when the most controversial moment came.

Spotted by an unhappy Liverpool fan shuffling out of Anfield after the game, O'Hara found himself the subject of some unwanted attention before the unseemly insults were hurled back and forth at each other.

What was said is not quite fit for print on the family friendly pages of the ECHO, but neither O'Hara nor the fan gave an inch in the brief verbal spat.

Van Dijk fumes

Usually the coolest man inside Anfield, Virgil van Dijk was furious in the closing stages.

After a cross was blocked by Pierre-Emile Hjobjerg, the Denmark international decided to eat away at the clock by staying down for perhaps longer than was necessary.

They were, of course, classic time-wasting tactics with Spurs holding on to a 1-1 draw with just a few minutes remaining and while the boos from the Kop were likely music to Hjobjerg's ears, Van Dijk anger will have also been audible.

The Dutch defender gesticulated at his opponent, making it clear - in no uncertain terms - what he thought about the antics as Liverpool chased a winner.

And...for...the Champions League finalists

Liverpool were never going to let events of Tuesday night in Villarreal pass without a mention of reaching a third Champions League final in four years.

As usual pre-match announcer Peter McDowall prepared to do his 'And for Liverpooooool' catchphrase, he instead added a modern twist on the classic with a nod to their appearance at the Paris showpiece.

"And...for...the Champions League finalists..."

The declaration was inevitably greeted with a huge roar from the Kop. And why not?
