Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne has updated fans about her father’s “medical complication” after reports suggested his family was “preparing for the worst”.
Foxx was taken to hospital a month ago after suffering an undisclosed illness, Corinne announced at the time.
In the weeks since, conflicting accounts have emerged about the 55-year-old star’s condition with Radar reporting this week that his family was “hoping for the best but preparing for the worst”.
Corinne debunked the online publication’s report specifically in a statement shared on her Instagram on Friday (12 May).
“Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating,” the 29-year-old announced.
“In fact,” she continued, “he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support! We have an exciting work announcement coming next week too!”
It was Corinne who revealed on 12 April that Foxx had “experienced a medical complication”.
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” she said. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
Foxx broke his silence on social media on 3 May, thanking fans for their support but offering no further details on his condition.
“Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed [prayer, heart and fox emoji],” the actor shared on his Instagram Story.
Foxx was in Georgia, USA, shooting the forthcoming Netflix film Back in Action when he was taken to a medical facility.
The actor reunited with his Any Given Sunday (1999) and Annie (2014) co-star Cameron Diaz for the movie, who has since returned to filming while body doubles sub in for Foxx.
