Jamie Dornan hints Robert Pattinson 'didn't fit in' with friendship group after Twilight

Jamie Dornan has suggested that Robert Pattinson "didn't fit in" with their friendship group after starring in the hugely successful Twilight series.

The Belfast star, 39, is said to have been roommates with fellow actors Andrew Garfield, 38, Charlie Cox, 39, and Eddie Redmayne, 40, before becoming household names.

Their friendship group included Robert, 35, - who plays the title role in the new film The Batman - though he recently teased that he was an "afterthought" at their meet-ups.

Following his comment, Jamie was asked about the situation whilst on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards over the weekend.

He was asked by Entertainment Tonight (ET) whether it was true that Robert - who found fame in the Twilight film series - used to receive a "pity invite" to the group's events.

Responding to such, he said: "No. He sort of had success earlier so we were a bit like; 'does he really fit in with us? Because we're not working and he's working all the time'."

The actor - who has been nominated for a number of awards for his performance in Belfast (2021) - said that after Twilight, Robert was in a "different stratosphere" to them.

He however added that himself and the rest of the group have since "started working more consistently" themselves, and said: "But yeah, we've known each other a long time."

Jamie later spoke to Access and joked that they wouldn't leave Robert at home for events, as he was "the good looking one." He teased: "He got us in. He got us attention."

Robert has spoken about the group to ET earlier this month, whilst promoting his latest film The Batman - in which he plays Bruce Wayne, known under the titular alter ego.

He had teased to the outlet: "I wasn't actually roommates [with them]. They were all roomates and I was like the last one invited. I was like always invited as an afterthought."

Since the period in question, the rest of the group have gone on to have successful careers, with Jamie having starred in the Fifty Shades film series and TV show The Fall.

Charlie is best known for his role as Matt Murdock - also known as Daredevil - in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), having appeared in two of its shows and one film.

Similarly, Andrew's credits include playing Peter Parker - known as Spider-Man - in several films, as well as starring in The Social Network (2010) and Tick, Tick... Boom! (2021).

Eddie has appeared in a number of high-profile films including Les Misérables (2012), The Theory of Everything (2014) and more recently the Fantastic Beasts film series.
