Jamie Carragher jokingly called out Virgil van Dijk in response to Liverpool drawing Real Madrid in the Champions League round-of-16.
The Reds will face a repeat of last season's final defeat come February - the exact dates of which provide a massive boost domestically - after being paired with the current European and Spanish champions for the first round of the knockout stages. Liverpool have endured a torrid record against Los Blancos, losing five of the last six meetings including two finals in 2018 and 2022.
Liverpool fans would have to go back 13 years for a win against the Spanish giants, with a 1-0 win in the Bernabeu followed by a thumping 4-0 return-leg victory at Anfield. That side, managed by Rafa Benitez, included Carragher at centre-back, and the former Reds captain has jokingly called out van Dijk to match his two clean sheet record.

He tweeted: "Last @LFC team to beat Real Madrid, 5-0 on aggregate! Hopefully you can keep two clean sheets @VirgilvDijk in the next clash!"
Carragher's tweet is likely in response to a recent claim from van Dijk, in which the Dutch giant told Gary Neville on the overlap that the ex-Reds captain 'wouldn't even make the full [Liverpool] squad [currently], the first 20, he would be in the stands!'
Liverpool will face Real Madrid at Anfield on Tuesday, February 21 2023, with the return leg at the Bernabeu on Wednesday, March 15 2023.
